Why ViaSkill After after my 20 Years in Tech

I've spent over 20 years in tech. I've managed teams, mentored engineers, and watched careers unfold in ways that were sometimes inspiring and often frustrating.

Not frustrating because people lacked talent. Frustrating because the systems around them failed to see it.

The patterns I kept seeing

I watched talented people get passed over for promotions they deserved. I saw employees with years of solid performance get punished in reviews because of one bad moment twelve months earlier. I was once forced by HR to lower someone's marks, even though he had been a reliable contributor for years. One rough patch erased everything.

I mentored engineers who did exceptional work but couldn't bring themselves to pursue the next role. Imposter syndrome told them they weren't ready. One person I hired had eleven years of experience and still called himself a "junior."

I had a boss pull me into a room with a tenured employee who had only been on the team for a month. She told him he was too slow. That he needed to speed up. He cried. I never forgot that moment.

Years later, I sought him out. I hired him onto my team at another company, this time as a manager. He wasn't slow. He was methodical. Thoughtful. Exactly the kind of person you want making important decisions.

The difference wasn't his ability. It was whether someone took the time to see it.

Why ViaSkill exists

I see people. I see their talents, their potential, and where they could thrive if given the chance. But I'm just one person. I can't mentor everyone.

So I built ViaSkill.

ViaSkill is a career operating system that helps professionals capture their work while it's fresh, translate it into proof, and build confidence in their own story. It's designed to fight the forgetting, the self-doubt, and the systems that reduce people to a single data point.

Because talent shouldn't be invisible. And your best work shouldn't disappear the moment you close your laptop.

The career scramble is real

Most people don't think about their career narrative until they're forced to. A layoff. A sudden interview. A promotion cycle that catches them off guard.

By then, the details have faded. The wins feel distant. The confidence isn't there.

ViaSkill is built for before that moment. So when opportunity comes, you're ready. Not scrambling.

This is personal

I didn't build ViaSkill because I saw a market opportunity. I built it because I lived the problem, on both sides of the table.

I've been the employee whose work went unrecognized. I've been the manager who fought for people the system wanted to overlook. And I've been the mentor watching someone talk themselves out of the role they were born for.

ViaSkill is my answer to all of it.
